In response to an unanticipated opportunity, New City Church has embarked on an adventure to establish a community home for a thriving future.

Our mission has always been to promote Jesus Christ's supremacy in all things for the joy of all people. We now have an opportunity to pursue this mission from a permanent foundation at 345 North Kitley Avenue.

We invite you to join us in this sacrificial investment in the Kingdom of God.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are working together to purchase, update, and furnish a permanent facility on the East Side of Indianapolis that will further our mission to promote the supremacy of Jesus Christ in all things.

  • In God’s providence and timing, we have secured a facility to help resource the next generation of fruitful ministry. Happily (though this may require stretching on our part), we endeavor to steward this property that has been provided at a substantially affordable price.

    Purchasing and improving this property:

    ·       Promotes the “tip-of-the-spear” ministry of Sunday morning worship.

    ·       Strengthens central ministries that support family flourishing via Rooted and Youth ministries.

    ·       Anchors New City in place for the sake of the East Side, the city, and the world.

  • We are inviting our people into a two-year faith-filled partnership with Jesus and one another. We will encourage them to treat Jesus as supreme over their finances and future, anticipating that they will experience deepening joy in generosity and trust. Organizationally, we will form teams to manage project and campaign logistics.

  • We believe so. The Lord is further establishing New City Church as a multi-generational place and people of light on the East Side of Indianapolis. This campaign solidifies that trajectory from a human perspective.

  • We will be successful when we reach pledges roughly equal to 1x our regular annual giving (about $600,000) AND when each of our members has genuinely wrestled with Jesus Christ's supremacy over their finances, regardless of the individual response.

This “genuine wrestling” of Jesus’ supremacy over finance consists of three elements:

    ·       Deep thanksgiving for what has been received.

    ·       An honest assessment of spending habits.

    ·       A clear plan for current and future giving.

  • With input from volunteers, staff, elders, and the diaconate, the campaign project team has developed a recommended list of priorities. As each project is introduced and launched, a communications team will find creative ways to keep the congregation informed.

  • No. As we proceed in this adventure, we must continue to be the church we have been and thus meet our operational budget. We are asking for gifts above and beyond current giving levels, which are for projects outside the scope of our yearly operational budget.

  • IteFirst, we believe the scriptures teach tithing. If you don’t tithe but still give, we commend the tithe to you for your personal growth and blessing. It may take you years to get there, but please do earnestly seek to get there. We believe there are blessings and freedom in this journey.

Regarding how much to give to the campaign, pray and ask God what he would have you do. Please re-declare to Jesus Christ that he is Lord over your life, including your finances.  If you believe God is prompting you in a specific direction, obey that desire.

As stated above, prayerfully consider a sacrificial gift that is at least equivalent to what you currently give annually.  This gift, given in faith, would exceed your current giving level.  If this new “above and beyond” giving level helps you move toward tithing, please continue at this new level even after the pledge period.m description

  • If you’ve prayerfully brought this question before the Lord with an open hand and, after doing so, have peace about not giving, then we, too, say move forward in peace! We know that various temporary circumstances, including unemployment, might play a role. If you are unsure whether you can give or are experiencing financial hardship, marital difficulty, or spiritual warfare regarding finances, we encourage you to talk with a pastor or elder.

  • Your pledge is more like a prayerful “faith promise” than a debt. The church has developed a system to track pledge fulfillment. Communication will mainly consist of acknowledging your initial pledge and giving thanks. We will send a report updating each person on their progress at different milestone dates.

  • It starts with you designating your pledge contributions so each gift can be formally categorized and tracked. We hope to send each person pledging a progress report at various milestone dates. We will also anonymously report overall campaign progress to the congregation via the church bulletin and other means.

  • We prefer undesignated gifts because we consider the overall picture and try to incorporate all needs in an orderly way. Undesignated gifts allow us to fully fund each project as they arise and more efficiently manage budgeting, project planning, and cash flow.

  • No. We recognize the desire to create memorials to honor loved ones. Memorial gifts raise a lot of money to fund the mission of hospitals and universities. Even so, adapting this practice for a house of worship seems out of place in a New City culture that seeks to promote the supremacy of Christ in all things.

  • First, we believe we will meet our target by God's grace. New City takes a conservative approach to the budgeting and financial stability of the church. In so doing, we intend to plan projects and cash flow responsibly to mitigate against unforeseen circumstances. If we do not meet our fundraising goals, we have already considered the budget impact of servicing debt and will eliminate projects as needed.
