New Here?

Welcome.  Here are a few things that might be helpful for you to know if you are new around here or are considering joining us for a worship service.

What is the worship service like?

We believe that we ought to worship in the way God has created us to worship. While we are all called to engage God in worship — some sing quietly, others are more loud and expressive, many are somewhere in the middle.  The music is modern or a modern adaptation of historic songs. The preaching is a central feature of worship and seeks to be God-honoring, Christ-centered, and Bible-based. Communion is offered weekly for those who have professed faith in Christ.

What should I wear?

We are a “come as you are” or “wear what you want” group of people. So, come as you are and wear what you feel comfortable wearing.

What if I am not a follower of Jesus?

All of us are in process. Though we worship fervently and seek to do so with honesty, we despise manipulation and high-pressure tactics which have (unfortunately) been present in some churches over the ages. You are invited to come, experience, enjoy, and explore. If you have honest questions we will be happy to wrestle through them with you.

Are you part of a denomination?

For many good reasons denominations are unpopular in our day. We usually respond to this question with, “Why don’t you come and try to guess? If you can’t, it really doesn’t matter!” Having said that…we voluntarily affiliate with a network of churches known as the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) for the purposes of accountability, encouragement, and wisdom. While the PCA is full of fine people, we are not on a recruiting mission for the denomination. So, are we part of a denomination? Yes, and happily so, but not like that.
